Client: Delta Design Systems

Product: Acoustic Containers

Leading acoustic engineering group Hodgson & Hodgson has supplied three purpose built diesel generator containers to Delta Design Systems for Thames Water’s Mogden Sewage Treatment Works in Isleworth, West London which is currently undergoing a £140m upgrade to extend its sewage treatment capacity by 50%. Work is due for completion in 2013. Mogden Sewage Treatment works is one of the largest in the UK serving 1.9 million people and covering an area of around 120 acres. It was built between 1931 and 1935 at a cost of £1.7million. Over half of the power used by the plant is renewable energy that has been generated on site as part of the sewage treatment process.

The improvements to Mogden will significantly reduce the amount of storm sewage that overflows into the tidal stretches of the River Thames when the site becomes overloaded during heavy rainfall. The improvements will also reduce the volume of effluent discharged as well as reducing odour at the site. Hodgson & Hodgson’s brief was to design three ISO acoustic containers complete with an integral bunded base, personnel access doors and attenuators to house the MTU power generators and achieve a sound pressure level of 80dBA at 1m. The walls and roof were constructed from steel sheet with a sound absorbing, flame retardant mineral wool infill and a perforated inner face.

Hodgson & Hodgson Group’s Engineers have many years experience in supplying high quality standard ISO?and bespoke acoustic containers for Power Generation Equipment. With eight locations across the country, Hodgson & Hodgson provides high quality advice on all aspects of acoustics and noise and vibration control to a wide range of clients and offers a total design, manufacture and installation service for everything from individual, dedicated noise control solutions to full turnkey packages.
