H & H SoftSound Wall Panelling System.
H & H PhonoTrack Acoustic Panelling.

H & H SoftSound Wall Panelling System.
A decorative wall panelling system manufactured from acoustically absorptive mineral fibre covered with a high quality open weave fabric. Designed to absorb high levels of reflected sound within a room to create a softer and more comfortable acoustic environment in public and commercial buildings, recording studios, cinemas, offices, conference centres and reception areas.
The panels can be supplied as a liner panel to cover existing walls from floor to ceiling, or as feature panels to create a picture frame effect.
The liner panels are available in a standard size and thickness, and can be cut to fit individual wall areas with minimal joints. The panels are fixed between metal base and header channels, and various edge trims are available to cover vertical joints, external corners, internal corners and angled directional change corners. All joint trims are covered in the same fabric as the liner panels to provide an aesthetically pleasing floor-to-ceiling finish. Feature panels incorporate an integral rigid, fabric-covered edge frame to provide dimensional stability which are secured to walls using a base support bracket and a Velcro fixing system.
Fabrics and colours:
Two fabric ranges are available, each with a choice of 40 colours.
'Cara' fabrics have a relatively open weave, providing a hessian effect.
'Screen' fabrics have a closer weave for a smoother finish.
Panels can also be covered with a client's own choice of fabric, subject to it being of a suitable quality and having the required acoustic properties.
SoftSound liner and feature panels are available to order and should be fitted by skilled tradesmen or specialist contractors.
Standard dimensions:
2600 x 1200 mm.
Thickness: 25 mm.
Weight per panel: 6.7 kg.
Feature and bespoke sizes and shaped panel dimensions:
Minimum length and width: 80 mm.
Maximum length: 2600 mm.
Maximum width: 1200 mm.

Individual panels with fabric extended over all edges.

Installation:
Method of fixing panels:

(SoftSound Liner panels:)
Cut the top, bottom and end channels, and the T sections to the required lengths.
Position and fix the deep U channel horizontally along the top of the wall with appropriate mechanical fixings.
Position and fix the shallow U channel horizontally along the bottom of the wall with the appropriate mechanical fixings. Ensure the distance between the top and bottom channels is 20mm greater than the size of the panel being installed.
Guide the top edge of the SoftSound Liner panel into the top channel, push it against the wall and slowly slide the panel into the base channel.
Fit the intermediate 'T' section tightly against the SoftSound Liner Panel. Position the second panel as detailed above and slide it into to intermediate T section. This will conceal the joint between the two SoftSound panels.
Repeat until the wall area being treated is fully covered.
If there is a requirement to trim the last SoftSound Liner Panel to width, fit a shallow 'U' channel vertically along the edge before positioning the last 'T' section. Cut the Liner panel to size and slide into the end section. Fix the remaining 'T' section to cover the last joint.
If any of the Liner panels need fitting around pattresses for light switches, power sockets etc. Trim the fibre of the baseboard to size and peel away from the fabric. Position the panels and staple the excess fabric to the pattress. Cut a small hole in the fabric to bring any cables through and fix the cover plates over the fabric to provide a neat finish.
If the adjourning wall is to be covered, fix an internal corner trim and continue along the adjourning wall following the procedure detailed above.
For any external corners or directional angle changes fix the appropriate trim sections.
To cover walls in excess of 2700mm high, install additional panels above the first row by fixing a shallow U channel on top of the original top channel and install as detailed above until the required height is achieved.

(SoftSound FibreLine Panels)
Fixing With Adhesive
Ensure the surface of the wall is smooth, flat and free from dust or loose particles.
Check the adhesive being used is suitable for adhering mineral wool slabs to the substrate that the panels are being fixed onto. Apply the adhesive and fix the panels in accordance with the manufactures instructions.
Fixing with Velcro Pads
Ensure the surface of the wall is smooth, flat and free from dust or loose particles.
Position the panels on the wall and mark the corners of the panel with pencil or chalk. Measure the position of the Velcro pads on the back of the panel and mark the wall to correspond with the positioning of the pads. Peel the release paper off the back of the Velcro pads and press into position. Mechanically fix the Velcro pads to the wall with appropriate fixings.
Carefully align the panels on the wall, using the pencil marks as guides and press gently over the Velcro areas to secure into position.
If there is a requirement to trim the panels to size on site, carefully peel back the facing fabric from the base board. Cut the baseboard to size using a long bladed knife and straight edge, taking care not to damage the fabric.
Spray contact adhesive onto the front and edge of the baseboard and smooth the fabric back over the fibre. DO NOT overspray with adhesive as excess adhesive could 'bleed' through the fabric.
Trim off any excess fabric on the reverse of the panel.
Fixing with Z Section Wall Clips
Position the panels on the wall and mark the corners of the panel with pencil or chalk. Measure the position of the fixings on the reverse of the panels and mark the wall to correspond with the positioning of the clips. Fix the 'Z' clips to the wall in the appropriate position using 2 pan head screws.
Carefully align the panels on the wall, using the pencil marks as guides and lift the panel over the wall fixing and then drop into place.
