Building Isolation
With the ever increasing demand for development and the pressure to
use all available space it is becoming common for sites to be located
in much closer proximity to railways, roadways and airports. Often, such
developments include buildings like Hospitals, Concert Halls, Cinemas
and Domestic Dwellings which are sensitive to vibration and re-radiated
noise. To ensure that the level of noise and vibration is tolerable to
the occupants of these buildings it is essential to isolate them.
Hodgson & Hodgson Group design, manufacture and install isolation
systems to meet natural frequency and efficiency requirements. Solutions
include pre-compressed or basic springs and elastomers.
Sound
Insulation
Buildings and rooms can be noise sensitive, noise producing or both.
Each individual room or building will have different requirements for
allowable levels of intrusive and emitted noise to and from internal and
external spaces.
Hodgson & Hodgson Group design, manufacture and install isolation
systems to meet any sound insulation requirement. Solutions include floating
floors, room within a room constructions, resiliently suspended ceilings,
acoustic structures and doors.
Room
Acoustics
The acoustics of a room are defined by its internal finishes. The
determining criterion is the reverberation time. This can be subjectively
assessed by listening to the length of time it takes for a loud sound
to become inaudible. Different room functions require different acoustic
conditions. A Concert Hall may require a reverberation time of 1.8 to
2.2 seconds whilst a Recording Studio will need a much shorter reverberation
time of less than 0.5 seconds.
Hodgson & Hodgson Group design, manufacture and install isolation
systems to achieve any acoustic performance criteria. Solutions include
stretched fabric, slotted timber, perforated metal and suspended ceilings.
