Hodgson
& Hodgson Strengthens Relationship with Westleigh Developments
Acoustic
specialist Hodgson & Hodgson Group is again supplying residential
building specialist Westleigh Developments with proven noise control products.
Westleigh's most recent development, on the site of the former Northampton
Machinery company, comprises eight houses and 138 apartments in six separate
blocks. The scheme is a mixture of shared ownership, rented and open market
sale properties. Hodgson & Hodgson, having worked with Westleigh on
three other apartment projects, was approached to supply acoustic flooring
materials for new buildings.
Westleigh has benefited, not just from
the improved sound resistance in the new buildings, but also from a considerable
overall cost saving. By replacing the original batten system with 6500m²
Hodgson & Hodgson's SoundFloor STI, the thickness of the floors was
reduced and labour costs minimised. Also, as insulation was no longer
needed between battens and the original floor, the cost of materials came
down.
"With changes to building regulations,
the use of purpose-made acoustic materials is becoming more common in
new build projects", says Glynne Balshaw-Jones of Hodgson & Hodgson.
"We're happy to have had this opportunity to work with Westleigh
once again. And with more projects in the pipeline, we're looking forward
to strengthening our relationship further over the coming years".
