Situated
in Saint Annes Well Road close to Nottingham city centre, The Vicarage,
the £6 million new-build project consisted of three cylindrical
five, seven and nine storey steel frame blocks for student accommodation.
H&H Acoustic Consultancy Division was involved early on in the 51 week programme
to determine if the proposed site was suitable in terms of PPG24: Planning
Policy Guidance Planning and Noise 1994; and assess the sound insulation
performance of the proposed rendered insulation on metsec framing building
shells. Specialist double glazed window units together with acoustic through-wall
acoustic air bricks were recommended.
Further acoustic design advice was needed for the separating walls and
floors so they were Part E compliant. During all phases drawings were
regularly reviewed, to check the acoustic integrity of the details and
junctions.
All separating walls and floors tested exceeded the requirements of Approved
Document E and internal noise levels also met ingress criteria.
