Acoustic Consultancy Division was commissioned to provide outline and
detailed design advice for the two multi-storey new build student blocks.
The proposed site was situated next to a large electricity station which
meant that low frequency noise had to be assessed. This resulted in
specification of high performance double glazed window units together
with acoustic trickle ventilators.
Further advice was given for the separating walls and floors so they
were Part E compliant together with assessment of the lift shaft. A
lighter weight façade solution was agreed for the top recessed
floor with different party walls. However the results were the same
and Building Control were satisfied with all the commissioning results.
